
1. Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Policy
Being a leading transport company, it is the main aim and policy of IBT to continue all the transport operations in such an excellent way to alleviate all hazards to health, safety and environment and to make sure the safe delivery of products to their destinations.
IT IS OUR HSSE POLICY TO:

Prevent all kinds of accidents.

Protect the environment by preventing pollution.

Manage a system where no harm to people.
-
Conduct / participate in training and safety campaign to increase the awareness about HSSE.

Encourage involvement of employees in Health, Safety, Security and Environment affairs.

Openly report our HSSE performance, good and bad.
-
Implement and maintain a management system to improve our HSSE performance.
2. Drug & Alcohol Policy
IBT understands the importance of the employees’ and drivers’ state of health. It also recognizes that their health can affect their ability to perform the job successfully. Therefore, the Company desires all of its employees to be free from the dependency of alcohol and drugs.
The Company’s policy is:

All the employees and drivers, either working in the office or outside the office, should be free from the addiction of drugs and alcohol.

The Company will not permit any individual to use alcohol or drugs on the work place or company premises.

The company will conduct drug and alcohol test for drivers/employees through medical doctor before selection.
-
In case of positive result the driver/employee will be suspended for 15 days and a chance of rehabilitation will be provided to him.

Re-medical test will be conducted after 15 days, if result is negative, restoration, if positive then ultimately to termination of his employment.

Random medical test for drivers will be conducted through a medical doctor.
3. Mobile Phone Policy
Research indicates that the improper uses of mobile phones are a safety hazard. Some research indicates that a driver’s reaction time is slowed by three to four times while using a mobile phone. That is why IBT has adopted a clear policy about using mobile phone.
It is our policy that:

The use of mobile phone is prohibited for all employees while driving vehicles at any time.

All the employees would switch off their mobile phones while driving the vehicles.

During driving if it is necessary to use mobile phone so, the concern employee will stop the vehicle at a safe place to use mobile phone.
-
Mobile phones can create ignition, so all the employees working with the Company would switch off their mobile phones before entering a filling station, oil depots and refineries.
4. Personal Protective Environment (PPE) Policy
Personal protective equipment plays an important role in reducing the effects of an incident on people involved in it. IBT has a firm commitment to provide P.P.E. to all employees whenever there is an exposure to potential hazards.After thorough analysis of transportation operation the IBT has recognized following PPE which is required in our business:

Safety Helmets:Every employee will use safety helmet when there is danger of head injury. Helmets will be provided for this purpose.

Safety Shoes:When there is a potential for foot injury, safety shoes that protect the feet and minimize slipping must be worn. The Safety Shoes shall be provided whenever necessary.

Coverall:Every Employee will use coverall when there is a danger of cuts, handling Corrosive / hydrocarbon materials etc. Use of coverall is mandatory.

Safety Goggles:Safety goggles shall be provided to every employee if there is a potential of eyes injury or splash hazards. Mandatory use of safety goggles shall be implemented.

Safety Gloves:To handling corrosive, hydrocarbon, toxic or hazardous materials protective gloves must be worn. Cotton, leather, rubber gloves are most common hand protection items, which shall be used by every employee whenever necessary.

Hearing Protection:This shall be provided where noise level cannot be engineered out or management controls are not practical.
5. Driver Recruitment Policy
It is our Company’s policy to hire skilled, experienced and innovative persons. The drivers, who meet the necessary requirements, can qualify to join our organization. The Company’s basic entrance requirements are:

Medical Examination before hiring

Valid driving license
-
No discrimination on the basis of Race & Sex.
For selecting drivers we will look to the following qualities:

A proven safe driving record in the appropriate class of vehicle.

A positive attitude to road safety.

Physical fitness for the task

Integrity
-
The driver will also have to pass the following tests:

Oral tests to assess knowledge of relevant legislation, the National Highway Code and general attitude to driving.

Pre-employment on road assessment including driving skills, vehicle handling and general road behaviors.

Should have achieved education level of ‘Primary’
6. Training Policy
As far as training of staff and employees is concerned, the Company firmly believes in providing effective HSE and every other training facility to the employees and staff and maintains their records. For implementing its training program, the Company has a number of supervisors and safety officers.
7. Seat Belt Policy
IBT thinks that the safest place during a vehicle accident is inside the vehicle. Seat belt ensures this by keeping the occupants in their seats. That is why; IBT gives top priority to seat belt use.
It is the policy of “IBT” that:

All vehicles of the company would be equipped with seat belts.

It would be necessary for all drivers and passengers traveling by company vehicles to wear seat belt.
-
All the sub-contractors and their employees, working with the company must ensure the seat belt compliance.
8. Road Safety Management Policy
The tank Lorries covered million kilometers per year. Road safety is not less than a challenge and the solution of road transport safety system is not an easy job. But still it is clear message of IBT that road transport safety is our priority and all accidents are preventable.
Our RSM Policy is:

Checking of each vehicle before load to ensure that vehicles are 100% fit for transportation business.

Ensure that vehicles are equipped with proper emergency accessories and drivers are trained to comply with company emergency response plan.
-
To ensure that all employees /drivers would obey traffic rules. They should fully aware with road transport laws.
-
Make efforts to bring accidents rate to Zero level and in case of accident minimize its impact on people and environment.
-
Ensure that all drivers will go through DDC after hiring.
-
All company vehicles will be monitor on road and efforts would be made to reduce violations.
9. Tyre Policy
It is the top priority of the company to ensure the quality standard used for Tyre. The company shall adopt following strategy to achieve the safety and quality transportation:

Checking of all tyres before loading that tyres are in good conditions and are 100% fit for transportation.
-
The Tire should not be allowed with the tread depth less than 3mm.
-
Mismatched, re-grooved or re-cut tyre is not allowed in the vehicles.
-
It is our policy that we used only branded tyre like, Bridge Stone, Michelin, and Yokohama etc.
-
All sub-contractors will also follow the tyre policy.
10. Vehicle Operating Policy
It is the top priority of the company to ensure compliance of VOP policy by the employees. The company shall adopt following strategy to achieve goals of this policy:

Checking of all vehicles to ensure that vehicles are 100% fit for transportation business.
-
Check that all vehicles are equipped with proper emergency accessories (fire extinguisher, first aid box, TREM Card etc) and these are in serviceable conditions.
-
Check that all vehicles are ensuring to use of Head Lights during daylight hours.
-
Driver makes ensure to use wheels chowks while parked.
-
Driver ensuring that the vehicle is safely parked and the route he is using is secured.
-
All sub-contractors will follow the company HES standards and Vehicle Operating Policy.
11. HIV Aids Policy
The HIV/ AIDS pandemic causes serious disruption of the societies in which we operates. Pakistan falls into “Low Prevalence with High Risk” category.
This policy intends to provide key principles to protect staff and business interests and contribute to preventing the further spread of the infection in our region.

Company will not discriminate against employees with HIV/ AIDS positive. The medical criteria used for employment remains fitness to work to fulfill the job requirements.

We recognize that these diseases are not transmitted through routine, casual personal contact under normal working conditions. Acts of discrimination against or harassment of employee with HIV/ AIDS on the grounds of his or her infection shall be subjected to disciplinary action.

Company endorses the principle that the education of employees with regard to HIV/ AIDS in the most effective way of preventing the spread of the disease as well as managing HIV/ AIDS at the workplace. The responsibility of the healthy living and avoidance of exposure to risk nonetheless rests with employee themselves.

Company will protect the secrecy of medical information related to these issues.

The policies and related practices and procedures will be reviewed and updated in accordance with any change in local in laws and regulations.
12. Fitness to Work Policy
We are committed to provide “Safe & Secure” services to our customers. Definitely drivers/staff fitness play key role to provide secure services. Therefore we adopt the followings:

Medical examination at the time of appointment.

Medical examination after sick leave.
-
Medical examination of each driver on annual basis.
In case of positive drug report he has to undergo rehabilitation period of 15 days. After that again tested, if negative then he continues his job otherwise terminated.
